David W. Lowe Scholarship | $2,000

The MPGA recently announced the creation of a new scholarship, the David W. Lowe Scholarship. “The propane industry has been a significant part of my family and my own life for decades. The industry has been a tremendous blessing to me and my family.  In an effort to return some of those blessings, I have created the David W. Lowe Scholarship,” explained Lowe.

The scholarship will be awarded to young men and women pursuing careers in either the propane industry, a skilled trade (plumber, HVAC, builder) or a career in healthcare in remembrance of his daughter, Brandy Lowe. The scholarship will help pay for community college, vocational education or university expenses.

Those eligible to apply include:

  • Members of the MPGA
  • Employees of MPGA members
  • Customers of MPGA members

Applicants may be pursuing any course of study at two- and four-year colleges or technical, trade, or vocational schools. Students pursuing propane-related careers are especially encouraged to apply.

The Lowe Scholarship will provide a $2,000 award.  The application is available here.

Encourage your employees and your customers to have their eligible children apply.  The application deadline is March 31, 2026.

NPGA Scholarship Fund

The National Propane Gas Foundation (NPGF) Scholarship Fund was established in 1993 by a committed group of energized volunteers. Its purpose is to foster educational opportunities for the children of National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) or state association member companies along with PERC employee children by offering scholarships to colleges or vocational/technical/trade schools. The fund provides nonrenewable scholarships in the amounts of $1,000 and $2,000. Scholarships are funded from the Scholarship Fund endowment earmarked for that purpose and managed by NPGF. Since 1994, the NPGF Scholarship Fund has awarded more than two million dollars to 1400+ children of NPGA member company employees!

Children of employees of NPGA member companies, state propane associations, or PERC are eligible to apply. Applicants may be pursuing any course of study at two- and four-year colleges or technical, trade, or vocational schools. Students pursuing propane-related careers are especially encouraged to apply. The National Propane Gas Foundation (NPGF) Scholarship application opens annually on December 15 and closes on February 15. Learn more about eligibility, the rules and procedures, and more.
